Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will be constructing affordable housing projects in Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib – based on the model of the LDA City housing project, according to news published in the national dailies on January 31.

As per the details, the authority is allowed to develop housing schemes along with the field offices in the district headquarters of Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib. Setting up the field offices will enable the LDA to plan and design the housing projects. The news source mentioned that the objective behind the proposal was to provide affordable and good housing schemes and increase revenue for the sustainability of the authority.

An official (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that the authority aims to decrease the pressure of the increasing population in Lahore by establishing well-planned and affordable housing projects in the said districts. Sharing details on the housing schemes, it was revealed that the land has been acquired for the housing projects by offering developed plots.
