Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has given conditional approval for the construction of highrises on main roads and highways in the city, news sources reported on April 07. Under the new regulations, the government will allow multi-storey highrises on newly commercialised roads.

Reportedly, the construction of wholesale markets, warehouses, and unloading godowns on newly commercialized highways in the city has been prohibited by the authorities. According to the revised laws, the said roads will host commercial multi-story buildings under the conditions mentioned below:
Raiwind Road:
- Plots measuring four kanals or higher can have ground-plus-six-storey buildings
- Plots measuring 10 marlas can have ground-plus-4-storey buildings

Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Khayaban-e-Jinnah:
- Plots measuring four kanals or higher can have ground-plus-six-storey buildings
Bypass Johar Town
- Plots measuring four kanals or higher have been allowed to have ground-plus-ten-storey buildings
In addition, the authority has also regulated various types of businesses on different roads in the city.
