The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started taking possession of mortgaged plots in 18 private housing schemes in Lahore. The authority had to take this step as the respective developers failed to complete development work in these colonies, despite the fact that expiry date of specified period was given to them years ago.
According to LDA officials, these plots will now be sold by LDA through open auction to complete the remaining development work. LDA has also warned other private real estate schemes to finish their development work as soon as possible otherwise, their mortgaged plots will also be confiscated and sold through auction for the remaining execution of development work.
A few days ago, LDA took serious notice of violations of approved construction layout plans for private housing societies, situated in LDA’s controlled area. The staff of LDA Metropolitan Planning Wing has demolished a road in Pak Arab Housing Scheme, Ferozepur Road that was illegally constructed on the land reserved for graveyard.
In the meanwhile, LDA has also filed an application to launch FIR against this housing scheme.
