Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has given conditional approval for five years to some banquet halls which did not meet the due requirements, according to a news report. In this time, the authority has given these halls to option to either meet the requirements, or wind up their businesses and shut down.
A previous Supreme Court order had declared all marriage halls in the provincial capital illegal, except for a few newer ones built according to regulations. However, after a major outcry, amendments in these regulations have been approved by the LDA, and the regularisation of marriage halls and marquees is being encouraged.
