Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Muhammad Usman Muazzam reviewed the authority’s ongoing uplift work of the Thokar Niaz Baig Intersection, a news source reported.
LDA had begun the improvement work on the intersection on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar. The work particularly focused on traffic management, and the physical ambience of the area.

The LDA DG visited the site of the uplift work on Sunday. He gave instructions to the officials concerned to meet the deadline set for the completion of the project. He added that they should conclude all the beautification and uplift activities at the Thokar Niaz Baig Junction within a fortnight’s time.
Muazzam directed the relevant officials to paint the entire length of the flyover in order to freshen up the appearance of the 1-km long, three-lane dual carriageway Thokar Flyover. Additionally, he instructed that horticulture works and ornamental lights in the area be arranged, to ensure a greener and righter look for the area.
LDA Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Khan revealed that they have removed the temporary encroachments underneath the flyover. Meanwhile, he added, that they were working to set-up green areas along both sides of the canal. He said that levelling of the land was underway for this purpose.

Hussain also stated that the landscaping and horticulture works were also in process. He added that they were constructing walkways along both sides of the Canal Road to facilitate pedestrians. He said that LDA workers were also installing protective fences throughout the length of these walkways.
The chief engineer assured that the substantial patchwork of the Canal Road, from Thokar Niaz Baig Chowk to EME Society, had reached completion. He added that LDA would ensure that the remaining work would be completed within a week’s time.
