Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Monday hosted a video conference for builders and developers in Karachi, according to news sources. LDA Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar briefed the attendees regarding the ease-of-doing-business reforms and steps taken to promote activity in the construction industry, according to the news sources.

The DG LDA stressed on the importance of promoting construction activities in the provincial metropolis in line with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s vision. He briefed the Karachi developers regarding the improvements made in approvals of residential, commercial, industrial and warehouse layout maps and completion of building certificates; that will now be issued within 30 days. Furthermore, the land-use change applications will be reviewed in 45 days and all procedures will be executed strictly within the communicated timelines.

It was informed that the planning permission clause had been removed to facilitate the approvals for private housing schemes. Tarar also said that 5% discount had been given on full payment of commercialization fee of the plot and the payment period of commercialization fee had been extended to 3 years. He revealed that LDA had notified an increase in the commercial area limit for the residential scheme – in a bid to promote business activity.
