Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Aziz Ahmad Tarar informed the city commissioner that the authority is working on several new projects to reduce traffic congestion in the city, reported a news source.
Moreover, DG LDA briefed the commissioner about the ongoing projects at Sheranwala gate flyover, Gulab Devi underpass, and Shahkam chowk flyover. These projects will help reduce the traffic burden on city chokepoints especially Shahkam chowk where three main roads, Canal Road, Multan Road, and Defense Road meet. The PKR 4.5 billion two-lane signal-free flyover will handle as many as 200,000 vehicles per day.

In the meeting, the commissioner was informed about the alternative traffic plan to divert vehicles before the commencement of the road infrastructure projects. DG LDA also informed about the timeline of the completion of the projects – especially the 22 Kanal land acquisition for the Sheran Wala gate flyover. The project is expected to complete in a record 10-month time.

In addition to the three projects, the committee was informed about the multilevel turbo roundabout at Shahdara chowk for heavy and light traffic control. The roundabout will deal with light and heavy vehicles separately. The commissioner while praising the project asked DG-LDA to start the Shahdra roundabout project as soon as possible.
