Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the repair, rehabilitation, maintenance, and beautification work on various roads in the city, a news source reported. The civic body plans to complete the work within 45 days. The project is expected to cost PKR 580 million.

LDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Usman Muazzam visited several localities in the city to inspect the ongoing work on Sunday. These included the localities of Allama Iqbal Town, Punjab University New Campus Road, Gulberg, and Thokar Niaz Baig junction.
LDA Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain Khan briefed the official regarding the progress on the rehabilitation work of the roads. He said that the fixing of tuff tiles along the New Campus Road and the construction work on the road leading to Inmol Hospital was in full swing.
In response, the LDA DG instructed the officials concerned to establish a coordination committee, which would comprise of representatives from the relevant departments. These include the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), the Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA), the Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA), the City Traffic Police, Rescue 1122, and other allied agencies. The officials from these departments would be responsible for supervising the ongoing road-repair projects.
Muazzam also directed the officials concerned to remove the illegal sign boards hindering the smooth flow of traffic at different points of the roads under repair. He also stressed on carrying out the repair work according to the approved specifications and finishing it within the provided deadline.

Further, the LDA DG ordered to finish fixing the tuff tiles at the service road along the Main Boulevard of Allama Iqbal Town by September 10. For the uplifting and beautification of the Thokar Niaz Baig junction, Muazzam asked to complete the work as soon as possible, since it was the main entry-exit point of the city.
