Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s governing body on Saturday (February 19) approved a plan to allow commercial activities on ten major roads in the city, news sources reported. The meeting also discussed the subject of LDA Avenue-1’s affectees and resolved to assign them plots and conduct balloting soon for that purpose.’

Reportedly, The meeting, presided over by LDA Vice-Chairman Naeem-ul-Haq and attended by the relevant officials, granted approval for commercial activity on ten roads and classified another nine roads as commercially feasible. It was revealed that commercial activity on the aforementioned roadways has been ongoing for much longer, but the categorization had been pending before the committee. As per the revised regulation, commercial activities are permitted on the following roads:
- Barki Road
- Thokar Niaz Baig to Defence Road on Raiwind Road
- Model Town Link Road to Railways Crossing on Maulana Shaukat Ali Road
- Canal Road to Wapda Town on Johar Town Bypass Road
- Shaukat Khanum Road to Raiwind Road on Khayaban-e-Jinnah Road
- Multan Road to Raiwind Road on Defence Road
- Link Raiwind Road to PIA Extension on PIA Road
- Jail Road to Mall Road on Maulana Zafar Ali Road
- Thokar Niaz Baig to Shahkam Chowk on Canal Road

The roads that have been reclassified as ‘commercially feasible’ are:
- Abu Al-Hassan Isfahani Road (Faisal Town roundabout till Akbar Chowk)
- Qazi Issa Road
- Campus Bridge Road
- Tollinton Market Road
- Hamdard Jail Road
- Shah Jillani Road
- Wahdat Road
