Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has received more than 375 kanals of land in the current month, a news source reported. The authority has received the land for carving out plots for the LDA City housing project.
LDA has reported that in addition to the development partners, private landowners have also begun to present land for LDA City.

The said housing project is years behind on its original development schedule. Now, the Supreme Court (SC) has issued a time period of eight months to carve out plots for more than 9,000 file-holders. Meanwhile, LDA Additional Director General (DG) (Urban Planning) Rana Tikka Khan has urged the development partners to boost efforts for meeting the deadline given by the SC. He met with the four development partners and asked them to allot the maximum amount of land possible.

The Additional DG also stated that LDA will be authorised to acquire the remaining land after the SC-issued period of eight months is over. He revealed that 34 contractors and engineering firms have shown interest in undertaking the development work of LDA City Phase 1, which covers 13,000 kanals of land. LDA is scrutinising their applications for prequalification. The development work will begin after LDA approves the applications.
Earlier this year, the SC had ordered to create a committee to ensure that the file-holders received their land or appropriate compensation instead.
