Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has amended the building and construction bylaws to allow the construction of over 7-storey buildings in the city, news sources reported on December 5.

According to newly approved rules, the development of structures up to seven storeys is now permissible on plots of four kanals or more. Following the passage of new legislation, the following restrictions would be in effect:
Raiwind Road, Khyban-e-Jinnah and Shaukat Ali Road
- Buildings with a ground+7 story will be permitted on lands of 4 kanal or greater,
- Buildings with a ground floor plus 6 stories will be permitted on plots ranging from 2 to 4 kanal.
- Buildings with a ground floor plus four storeys will be permitted on plots of 10 marlas or more.

LDA has permitted the construction of structures with a ground floor plus 10 storeys on 4 kanal plots for the Johar Town bypass road. In order to control traffic flow, the LDA has also prohibited the development of warehouses and wholesale markets on newly designated commercial roads in the city.
