Lahore: The governing body of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday approved the annual budget for the civic body and its affiliate agencies for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20, a news source reported. According to the budget announcement, the funds proposed for the authority’s Urban Development Wing are PKR 18.82 billion, while the estimated development expenditure is PKR 34.52 billion.

Of the total expenditure, LDA would cover PKR 7.72 billion using its own resources, while the Punjab government would provide the remaining PKR 11.09 billion in the form of funds allocated for the executive’s Annual Development Programme (ADP).
A total of PKR 3.68 billion has been allocated by the authority from its own resources for the upkeep and development work of various LDA housing societies. This includes road construction, sewerage and water supply, among other things.

Similarly, PKR 546 million has been earmarked for the construction and extension of several buildings across the city. Another PKR 995 million will be used for commencing work on development schemes, including building an integrated computerised system for the LDA.
