Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has commenced with the renovation and beautification work on 10 underpasses situated on the Canal Road, according to news sources. Under this initiative, these crossings will be decorated to pay tribute to the national heroes they are named after.
LDA Director General (DG) Mohammad Usman Moazzam recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) Human Resource Department chief Syed Mazhar Hussain to initiate this project.

Punjab Minister for Housing Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, LDA DG Moazzam, Vice Chairman S M Imran and HR chief Mazhar Hussain addressed the participants and reaffirmed their resolve to make Lahore a clean and green city.
This beautification initiative will be launched on both sides of Dharampura, Mughalpura, Jail Road, The Mall, FC College Underpass, Canal Road, Muslim Town, Punjab University Campus, Doctors’ Hospital underpass (left side leading to Thokar Niaz Baig) and the Jinnah Hospital underpass.

Meanwhile, a four-member delegation from the World Bank – headed by its Global Director Sameh Naguib – met with Housing Minister Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed. The delegation pledged to facilitate the provision of technical assistance to the local government for the development of low-cost housing units under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).
The minister briefed them about the progress of the project and informed the delegation that several high-rise buildings were being constructed in Multan, Faisalabad and Lahore.
