Lahore: The Punjab government has asked the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to start construction work on the Band Road T-Junction project, news sources reported on December 8.

The provincial government has asked the LDA to provide PKR 1 billion for the first phase of the Band Road development work, with the Punjab government releasing the balance of PKR 2.87 billion. According to the authorised Project Concept-1 (PC-1), the project will take 10 months to complete and will cost PKR 4.84 billion, of which PKR 3.87 billion will be utilised for civil construction and the remaining for land acquisition and accessory work.
The LDA will also buy 10.5 kanal of land for the project. It should be noted that the project was approved concurrently with the Samanabad Underpass project, which has already begun and will be finished in the following 13 months.

The project is intended to relieve traffic congestion on one of the city’s main highways, which is also used by heavy traffic. The T-Junction will be built to accommodate heavy traffic and decrease traffic congestion.
