Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Friday (March 4) held the computerised ballot for the 508 file holders of the LDA Avenue-1 project, a social media post on LDA’s official Facebook page informed. A total of 427 plots of various sizes were allotted to the scheme’s beneficiaries in the ballot.

The long-awaited ballot was held at the LDA Sports Complex Johar Town, with LDA Vice Chairman (VC) Naeem-ul-Haq and Director General (DG) Ahmad Aziz Tarar in attendance. In the event, 335 plots of 10 marlas and 92 plots of one kanal were drawn. On occasion, VC Naeem-ul-Haq stated that the LDA Avenue-1’s long-standing concerns would be resolved soon to make it successful. This includes the development of road infrastructure and the supply of basic municipal facilities. On occasion, LDA DG Ahmad stated that the troubles with the land acquisition for the LDA Avenue-1 are nearly over, with further ballots for the remaining file holders to be conducted soon.

It is worth noting that the LDA negotiated an arrangement with the Chiniot Housing Development under the instructions of the Lahore High Court. The former agreed to give over 1,675 kanals of property in exchange for LDA Avenue-1 and a 120-kanal farmhouse, which the LDA would convert into 100 plots.
