Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has asked the sponsors/developers of private housing schemes to introduce precautionary measures against rising smog and air pollution levels in their projects within the city, a news source reported.

To this effect, it has stated that private developers are responsible for implementing the landscape plan and ensuring the development of green belts in their real estate projects under Section 15 of the LDA Private Housing Scheme Rules 2014.
Moreover, the civic agency has publicised a list of precautionary measures against smog and environmental pollution and has asked the developers to:
- Complete parks and green belts in residential schemes on an immediate basis
- Promote alternatives to open burning of garbage within and near residential projects
- Control pollution levels emitting from under-construction buildings
- Ensure the use of wet cloth instead of besom for house cleaning
- Sprinkle water over mixed mud
- Ensure cleanliness of waste disposal sites
- Keep check on smoke-emitting vehicles
