Lahore: The governing body of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved PKR 38.39 billion annual budget for the civic body and its subordinate agencies Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and Traffic Engineering & Planning Agency (TEPA), a news source reported. At least PKR 20.18 billion have been earmarked for development work.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar chaired the meeting. Housing Minister Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, LDA Vice Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Imran, LDA Member/Vice Chairman Imtiaz Mehmood, MPAs Malik Mukhtar Ahmed, Umer Aftab, Muhammad Atif, and Sadia Sohail Rana, P&D Chairman, secretaries of the relevant departments, and Commissioner Lahore Division attended the meeting.
The governing body estimated the total development expenditure for the current fiscal year to be PKR 16.03 billion. LDA will cover PKR 5.61 billion through its own resources, whereas PKR 10.41 billion will be provided by the provincial government under its Annual Development Programme.
PKR Rs 1.66 billion has been allocated through LDA’s own sources for carrying out development work in LDA housing schemes. This includes PKR 80 million for LDA Avenue-I, PKR 120 million for the construction of a road network, water supply and sewerage, at Finance and Trade Centre in Johar Town, PKR 1.20 billion for LDA City, and PKR 250 million for development projects in different LDA housing schemes.
