Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Vice Chairman S M Imran has revealed that the development authority provided its approval to 48 land-use conversions within a week’s time frame, a news source reported on October 20.

According to the details revealed, LDA sanctioned land-use conversion for 28 petrol pumps, five LPG storage sites, three oil storage facilities, six schools, two medical institutes, two hospitals and one powerhouse compound. Imran added that in order to boost economic activity in the city, the authority had adopted business-friendly practices and bylaws.

He further stated that under the new regulations, any area hosting consolidated land between 24 kanals and 200 kanals could be converted into a commercial zone. In such a zone, for provision of all the requisite facilities, commercial plazas, showrooms and offices can be constructed.
