Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has recovered over PKR 368 million from various anti-encroachment drives underway across the city, news sources reported on February 27.

In a recent news release, the authority expressed its appreciation for the diligent work of its staff and enforcement teams. The authority reported that a remarkable increase in the recovery of funds, amounting to PKR 360 million, was achieved through a targeted campaign against illegal commercialisation, construction, and defaulters.
According to the statement, the LDA launched more than 15 anti-encroachment drives in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (FY) 2022-23 against illegal constructions and individuals who have defaulted on commercialisation charges.

As a result of these efforts, legal action was taken against over 250 properties.
Consequently, the amount recovered by the LDA is 110% higher than the recovery made during the same period in FY 2021-22, which amounted to PKR 171 million. Moreover, the authority also approved 184 building plans, including 11 commercial and apartment buildings. Additionally,127 completion certificates were issued, 27 properties were allowed for permanent commercialisation/land use conversion, and three petrol pumps were commercialised.

It is important to note that LDA, on the direction of the Lahore High Court (LHC), has launched an operation to make 9 model roads in the city. The operation started from G-1 Market Road in Johar Town, where many side road obstacles were removed in violation of Right of Way (RoW) rules.
