The preliminary operation was carried out on Abdul Haq Road (Johar Town’s G-1 Market Road), where several buildings, including seven commercial bank branches, were sealed. In an official statement issued by the authority, it was highlighted that LDA teams also sealed four restaurants and 20 food points. Additionally, 60 establishments, including stores and buildings, were sealed for encroaching on violation of Right of Way (RoW) rules and for hampering traffic flow.
The operation was started in response to the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) orders to address market traffic issues that are causing smog and deteriorating air quality. The court ordered the authority to remove encroachments and convert the city’s nine roads into model roads with zero encroachments.
