According to the new draft of Private Housing Schemes Regulations 2021, three key aspects will be highlighted for the authorised private housing projects.
The cemetery can now be provided five kilometres away, possibly in the green zone rather than the brown zone. Previously, the schemes were required to provide a cemetery within a five-kilometre radius of the society, but there was confusion between the Brown and Green zones.
Public utility zones in projects can be placed under developers’ management for a period of 15 years.

After 15 years, LDA will be able to take over public utility sites. Previously, private schemes were not allowed to use these zones.
The proposed amendments will be tabled for approval at the next governing body meeting of LDA. In addition to that the authority has also proposed to amend the Building and Zoning Rules 2020, which will also be amended in the next meeting.
