Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has issued important public advisory warning citizens to exercise caution when purchasing property in private housing schemes, as per the authority’s official Facebook post.

As per the LDA advisory citizens are asked to exercise and keep in mind the following points before purchasing land in any housing scheme:

- Purchase property through legitimate sources and thoroughly investigate the credentials of the seller.
- Check the title deed and other legal documents before entering into any transaction and consult with a qualified lawyer knowledgeable in property law.
- Ensure the scheme has obtained the necessary approvals and has a layout plan or an approved town plan.
- Verify the total number and areas of various categories of plots.
- Get a list of 20% mortgaged plot numbers and blocks
- Ensure the selected plot is within the approved scheme plan and not mortgaged with LDA.
- Inquire about the availability/approval status of the civic amenities (water, gas, power etc.).
- Visit the site marked for public amenities like parks, schools, hospitals and mosques on the advertised maps.
- Check if the project is under investigation for fraud and other illegal activities by any law enforcement agency, including National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
