Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday (December 18) gave approval for the transfer of 122-kanal land near Kot Lakhpat to the Health Department for the construction of a 1000-bed hospital project, news sources reported. The conditional approval was given during the Lahore Development Authority’s governing body meeting.

As per the report, in compliance with the directions of CM Buzdar, the LDA Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tara has notified the physical possession of the land for the construction of a Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SH&MED). The land was sold to the department for PKR 2.033 billion, which the health department plans to deposit in the LDA account by February 1, 2022. During the meeting, the chief executive also approved the tourism department’s request to extend the deadline for depositing unpaid dues for the utility site assigned in the Abdalian Housing Scheme. Similarly, in order to accommodate the allottees of the LDA Avenue 1 project, the meeting extended the deadline to deposit dues for the allotted plots in 60 days.

In addition, it was also decided to convert two plots in the Allama Iqbal Town fruit and vegetable market into a cold storage facility. CM Buzdar directed the concerned departments to expedite work on the approved and notified projects as soon as possible
