Lahore: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), in collaboration with Provicnial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), will build 100 houses in the flood-affected areas of South Punjab, news sources reported on September 06.

The package was announced by LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir in a meeting with Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif. According to a statement issued by the LCCI, the business community will offer monetary and material assistance for constructing a model village comprising 100 houses in the flood-ravaged southern parts of the province to bring relief to the people. The provincial government will propose the land for construction. According to the LCCI, this housing project would be in addition to the existing PKR 100 million support for flood relief supplies, food, and tents. The items will be delivered by the PDMA to flood victims.

It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) has also pledged to construct 500 dwellings for flood victims in South Punjab. Construction of these houses has been announced by these private organisations for the early rehabilitation of flood affectees.
