Lahore: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) recently made a request to the government to extend the time frame of its condition of displaying CNICs for processing sales to unregistered persons till June 30 — and to waive off the payment of gas and electricity bills for three months, a news source reported. As per the publication, LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that due to the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic raging across the country, the government ‘needed to do a favour to the business community’ by relaxing its CNIC condition until the end of June.

LCCI Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar said that people were restricted to their homes due to the coronavirus lock-down and requested that the property owners should contemplate waiving rents for at least two months. The LCCI officials emphasised that that daily-wagers, small businesses, and employees were facing livelihood challenges due to coronavirus.

Katta Bund Road Industrial Association Chairman Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi also appealed to the government to introduce power tariffs for all industries. He informed the Association during a meeting that the government had granted a 0.75 percent electricity tariff to the textile sector already and that if tariffs were reduced for all industries, then the country would be able to boost its exports considerably.
