Lahore: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh recently remarked that the government should reduce the collection frequency of its various labour taxes to once a year — a news source reported earlier today (July 20). The president made these comments while chairing a LCCI meeting that was also attended by Punjab Labour Secretary Muhammad Aamir Jan.

On the occasion, Sheikh further said that in order to reduce the cost of labour and its transportation, as well as improve overall competitiveness, the government should allow industrial setups to utilise 10% of their lands to establish labour colonies. He also called for improving the online system of the Labour Department.
The provincial labour secretary also addressed the meeting, and said that labour policies had been developed to ensure a satisfied workforce that could work optimally to contribute to national growth.
