Karachi: Karachi Deputy Inspector General Police (DIGP) East Muqaddas Haider on Tuesday (December 27) said that the police and law enforcement agencies are resolved to address land-related problems of builders and contractors, news sources reported.

In a meeting with a delegate of the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) who called on him in his office, the DIGP declared that the police and law enforcement agencies are prepared to take action against incidents of land grabbing and fraud in the real estate sector. He also announced that one million cameras would be installed at various points in Karachi under the Safe City (KSC) program to make it safer for citizens, especially business people.
He further announced the establishment of a committee in partnership with ABAD to address the issues related to land grabbing and encroachment. The DIGP added that he would personally review the committee report every month.

It is important to note that the land-grabbing issue in Karachi has become endemic, with frequent court intervention leading to long court battles. The KDA and SBCA have already announced the development of a mechanism to resolve outstanding problems related to land ownership and transfer.
