Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is considering implementing a law regarding the prevention of illegal construction and misuse of agricultural land, according to news sources.

KP government, with the collaboration of a foreign aid agency, has drafted the “Land Use and Building Control Act”. Under this Act, a Land Use and Building Control Council will be set up. Also, the provincial government will work on housing schemes as per the requirements of the urban areas. The District Planning Committee will be responsible for planning and submitting it to the council for approval.

Every type of planning and building to be constructed at the district level will require approval. Also, the details about the project must be submitted within three months after the approval.
For implementing the Act, Chief Planning Control Officers will be selected in the Local Government Department. Further, the officials added, the draft of the Act has been vetted by the provincial government and has been sent to the law department.
Once the draft is approved by the law department, it will be presented before the provincial cabinet and provincial assembly.
