Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee is looking to introduce prepaid electricity metres, reported a news source. The suggestion were put forth in a meeting headed by Finance Minister Asad Umar.
Umar issued important orders against electricity theft. To which, the committee members informed him that all illegal electricity connections will shut down in three months and a mega campaign will be launched against those involved in electricity theft.
Umar vouched that the actions will be taken without any discrimination and every department found colluding in electricity theft will suffer the consequences.
The committee members proposed installation for prepaid electricity metres to curb theft. Responding to the suggestion, Umar order the power distribution companies to make arrangements for introducing prepaid metres.
