Karachi: The November 15 deadline to register for the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) is only three days away, according to news sources. The upcoming cutoff date has led to a flurry of activity, as people clamor to sign-up for the government’s premier project — one that aims to provide 5 million housing units to the underprivileged segment of the country’s population.

Originally, the low-cost housing scheme was initiated on July 15, and the registration period lasted for three months. The initial deadline to enrol for the project was October 15, but this date was extended by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for another month, due to the overwhelming response of the public. The new deadline for registration was then moved to November 15.

According to the NADRA’s spokesperson, over 1.6 million people have registered for the programme, across the country. It should be noted that the programme allows only one person per family (self, spouse, dependent or children) to apply for the NPHP, and no one can apply more than once.
