Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Waste Management Company (GWMC) has purchased 64 acres of land to dump solid waste collected from the city, a news source reported. The landfill site is located at Bhakray Wali.
The GWMC will set up the modern waste dumping site in Bharay Wali at an estimated cost of PKR 1 billion. The project is expected to be completed next year. Sources claim that the GWMC has already completed the PKR 450 million tendering process to purchase machinery for the project. The machinery will be handed over to the company by December this year.

Under this project, the company will place 200 containers at different points in the city to collect waste at temporary garbage stations. Other items to be purchased for this purpose include dumpers, arm roll trucks and garbage lifters.

The GWMC will soon release a payment worth PKR 170 million to the landowners of the garbage-disposal site. Right after the payment procedure has been completed, the company will formally initiate the process to develop the site.
