Abbottabad: The Urban Policy and Planning Unit of the Planning and Development Department has recently organised a session to discuss the proposed land use plan for the futuristic development of Abbottabad district over the next two decades, reported a news source on October 7.

The details further entail that in a recent workshop held on Thursday, stakeholders from Abbottabad and Swabi districts, alongside government officials, took part in the session. The event featured notable town planner Prof Shakir Mayo as the key speaker. Prof Mayo elaborated on the comprehensive district land use plan, designed to guide future development across various sectors.
During the presentation, he delved into the district’s needs at the village level, conducting an analytical review of crucial areas such as health, education, housing, environment, tourism, agricultural land use, barren land, protected areas, mineral resources, and infrastructure development.

Emphasising the document’s dynamic nature, Prof Mayo highlighted that it would undergo periodic reviews every five years, ensuring it remains adaptable to changing requirements. He proposed the possibility of reallocating land for housing projects to high-rise buildings, thereby conserving valuable land resources while meeting the demands of Abbottabad’s growing population.
