Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood on Tuesday (June 30) said that the recurring land sliding issues in the hilly areas of the district would be resolved on a permanent basis, a news source reported. He shared this information while presiding over a meeting held to discuss matters pertaining to the Kashmir Road.

He directed the concerned officials to identify road patches on the 23-kilometre long Kashmir Road prone to experiencing land sliding. The commissioner also directed the officials to share proposals on finding a permanent solution against the land sliding issues. For this purpose, making minor changes and taking precautionary measures can reduce such risks, he said.

The commissioner was briefed that that PC-1 for carrying out the rehabilitation work under phase I and II on Kashmir Road has already been completed. Under phase I, an estimated amount of PKR 901 million will be spend on expansion, earthwork, carpeting, and hill-side cutting on a 11-kilometre long patch of the Kashmir Road. Similar pattern will be followed on completing the work on the remaining road under phase II.
