Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has recovered 165 kanals of land from illegal occupants and 55 housing schemes in the city, a news source reported on August 16. According to the details revealed, the authority recovered the land during the last eight months.

FDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Suhail Khawaja revealed this information during a meeting held to review the authority’s performance. He highlighted that the FDA conducted a survey to determine the status of land allocated for public parks, mosques, graveyards, solid waste management, wastewater disposal, dispensaries, schools, and other public utility services.
Khawaja revealed that according to the survey, many private housing schemes in Faisalabad had encroached upon land allocated for public utilities. He added that the FDA enforcement team then took action to takeover possession of this land.

The FDA DG stated that private housing schemes were bound to allocate land for public utilities as per the size of the project and transfer it to the FDA. He added that the authority’s monitoring teams were working to protect the rights of residents of the housing schemes. He further directed the officers concerned to practice transparency in these matters and other administrative affairs. He also issued orders on expediting the pace of the land recovery campaign for revenue generation.
