Lahore: So far during the anti-encroachment drive launched on October 2, land measuring 56,846.47 kanals has been retrieved from land mafia, a news source shared details on the report submitted by Lahore Division Commissioner Dr. Mujtaba Paracha. The operation launched against encroachers is part of the Clean and Green Initiative launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The worth of land retrieved from land mafia is estimated at over PKR 38.67 billion. In addition to that, FIR against 361 individuals was also registered on accounts of resisting the operation and causing interference in officials’ duties. Along with registering cases against the encroachers, fines worth PKR 935,000 was also collected from them.

In terms of fines imposed on not complying with the orders issued by the government, PKR 1.6 million fine was collected from people engaged in setting hay on fine. A total of 432 cases were registered against industrial units on not following the orders issued to control smog in the province, while 467 industrial units and 128 kilns were sealed on charges of causing pollution.
