Gujrat: The National Highways Authority (NHA) has identified 180-acres of land for the construction of 69-kilometre long Sambrial-Kharian Motorway, according to the news sources. The survey of trees, buildings, and other infrastructure on the proposed route has not been completed yet.

According to the details shared, land falling in 64 villages of the Sialkot and Gujrat districts has been identified so far. It was mentioned that the villages fall in Sambrial tehsil of Sialkot, 22 in Kharian tehsils of Gujrat, and 28 in Gujrat. The accurate measurement for the required land will be determined after the survey.
Reportedly, the deputy commissioners of the districts have issued notification of Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act to the villagers. On the orders of NHA, the local administration has initiated the survey of infrastructure on the designed route in Sambrial; however, the survey in Gujrat and Kharian tehsils is yet to conducted.
Project Director for Sambrial-Kharian Motorway Mr. Rafaqat disclosed that PKR 4 billion has been earmarked for land acquisition of the project while the construction cost will be covered by Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) as it is being implemented under public-private partnership (PPP) model. He added that the surveys and land acquisition might take another three months to complete. He further stated that the construction work on the project will start after the payment are made to the landowners.

Reportedly, five interchanges will be constructed on the route along with the development of a junction near rest area on the route.
