Gujranwala: On orders issued by Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmood Rasheed, the Gujranwala administration has identified 508 acres of land for the construction of a low-cost housing scheme under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, a news source reported.

Out of the 508 acres identified for this project, 100 acres of land is located on Sialkot Road, 100 acres on Pasroor Road near Sheikh Rajada, and 300 acres near Master City and Royal Palm City. The officials concerned have shown the proposed land to the committee formed for the purpose of land identification.

Reportedly, the Government of Punjab has also released funds worth PKR 500 million for the acquisition of land. As per the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency Chairman Muhammad Arif Imtiaz, since the value of the identified land on Sialkot Road and the one near Sheikh Rajada is quite high, the department has shared its report with the Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner Naila Baqir to finalise land near the abovementioned housing schemes.

Furthermore, the report also revealed that the land identified in Sialkot by the exiting government to set up the Ashiana Housing Scheme has been handed over to a company for a NPHP project development. The company will be responsible for making the project’s layout plan and carrying out the plotting work.
