The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has launched a massive anti-encroachment operation in various parts of the city, including Gulistan-e-Johar and Surjani Town, news sources reported on November 3.

As per the reports, the operation was launched in Block 6 of Gulistan-e-Johar on the complaint filed by the residents. The KDA officials, in the presence of a police contingent, recovered valuable government and public land from encroachers and demolished illegally constructed structures. Moreover, the KDA has asked the police for assistance in initiating a land reclamation operation in Surjani Town to reclaim over 17,000 commercial and residential lands. According to KDA officials, the authority will begin operations in Sectors 10, 13, and 14 of Surjani Town. Sector 10 has a total of 5,872 residential plots, 36 business plots, 99 amenity plots, and 16 flat site plots.

It was mentioned that Sector 13 has a total of 55,458 residential plots, 182 business plots, 134 amenity plots, and 22 flat site plots. Similarly, Sector 14 has a total of 6,465 residential plots, 613 commercial plots, 168 industrial plots, 67 amenity plots, and four flat site plots.
Previously, KDA had launched an operation against encroachers that resulted in the recovery of many plots that it returned to the original owners of the land.
