Lahore: For Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan in October to address the housing shortfall among the needy in the country, the location has been identified, reported a news source. Back in November, the Government of Punjab had ordered the Lahore Deputy Commissioner Saleh Saeed to find appropriate site for the project and submit a report on it.
On the instructions of Saeed, revenue officers in five tehsils of Lahore have identified over 784 kanals of land in the city. Reportedly, a report based on site recommendations have been sent to the higher authorities. The final decision on the proposed land being appropriate for the project will be taken by the concerned authorities.
The Revenue Department has spotted 179 kanals and 8 marlas in Mouza Chak Aasu in Model Town, 106 kanals on Bedian Road in Cant, 387 kanals in Mouza Dhulo Kalan, 87 kanals in Mouza Khardpura in Riawind and 29 kanals and 8 marlas in Kataro.
According to officials, the value of land in these districts amounts to over PKR 500 million.
