Haripur: The district administration of Haripur has initiated the computerisation of land records as per the provincial government’s policy, a news source reported. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and project manager Baidullah Shah stated that officials concerned are expected to complete the task by June 2020.

ADC Shah revealed that his staff were verifying century-old land records in consultation with the relevant patwaris. He added that by switching the process of land transfer and collection online, they would be able to improve their management of bribery complaints.

The project manager stated that there would now be a three-step verification system for the written and computerised land records. He added that this measure would ensure the transparency of the entire process.

Last year in November, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had started to computerise the land transfer system in Peshawar. It had directed the authorities concerned to link the computerised records with the biometric records of the individuals involved. The provincial government’s aim was to streamline the land transfer process by preventing delays and other issues caused by the traditional paper system.
