Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema chaired the meeting that approved the land classification map. During the meeting, DC Cheema directed the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and district council to issue notifications so the work can be started on the land revenue plan by the consultant.
As per the details, the land classification map of Pindi was drafted on a build-up area basis. It was disclosed that after the notification, the consultant will work on the 20-year plan. For this purpose, widespread consultation with the stakeholders will be carried out.
According to a senior official present in the meeting, the said plan will serve the needs of the population for the coming 20 years as it will create an urban growth boundary and preserve agricultural land. Under this plan different types of zoning will be conducted with every zone having its separate zoning regulations. Moreover, the plan will include social infrastructure, urban demarcation, and urban economy.
