Rawalpindi: The government of Punjab is soon to obtain another 7,900 kanals for the Dadhocha dam project, a news source reported. The provincial government has already put section 4 into effect in four tehsils in order to acquire 18,566 kanals of land for the same project. Approximately, 10,800 kanals of the land required for the construction fall in Kalar Syedan Tehsil, 200 kanals fall in Kahuta while 7,000 kanals fall in Rawalpindi Tehsil.

The Dadhocha dam project is expected to cost a total of PKR 6.127 billion, for the purpose of which the government of Punjab has allocated PKR 3 billion for land acquisition and another PKR 3 billion for the construction work.

The village of Launa, Bhoani and Bhun will come under the planned construction work for the dam. About 218 houses, seven commercial and industrial units, among other areas, will be affected due to the project. The construction is going to be done on upstream Soan River. Rain water from the surrounding hill stations will be collected in the lake at Dadhocha village near Sihala on Kahuta road. The construction work is expected to begin by next year.
