Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has directed that the land acquisition process for the Swat Motorway (M-16) Phase-II be completed within the next few months to ensure the project’s early completion, according to media reports.

During a review meeting on the status of megadevelopment projects, the CM urged officials to finalise the mechanism for executing the 160 km Swat Motorway Phase-II project and to take steps to expedite approval of the funding method.
Senior officials from urban development, planning and development, irrigation, finance, revenue, communications and works, and other relevant agencies attended the meeting.
Mr Khan noted during the meeting that the government’s primary goal is the timely completion of projects. Furthermore, he stated that new megaprojects for the communication industry will be proposed in the forthcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP).
In addition, he urged relevant agencies to priorities urban development in tribal regions. He stated that one of the government’s primary tasks is to assist and address the problems of the people in merged districts.
Sharing more details, the CM stated that 22 megaprojects are planned under public-private partnerships (PPP), including the 360Km Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, land acquisition for the Dir Motorway, and other projects.
The next ADP will also propose beautification and uplift projects in various cities, the building of tehsil complexes, infrastructure development, the establishment of public parks, and road construction.
It was also stated that a distinct project for urban development in the newly merged districts was in the pipeline. The next ADP will also include the construction and restoration of rural roads in tribal districts. ADP will cover all of the programmes proposed under agriculture transformation. In the merged areas, a new programme for agricultural transformation will be implemented.

It was also noted that a new initiative for the development of new tourism destinations in the province is under process.
