Peshawar: Board of Revenue Senior Member Sayed Zafar Ali Shah on Monday announced that land acquisition rules had been framed after making the requisite amendments in the Land Acquisition Act 1894 — a historic first in the province’s history, a news source reported. He termed the development ‘a part of the reforms being undertaken’ in KP’s land and revenue department.

Mr Shah said that while similar guidelines had existed previously, their status had been ambiguous and that the Land Acquisition rules were more strictly implemented.

The senior member stated that he hoped that the newly drafted rules would allow for the timely completion of projects around the province. He added that these would also be implemented in the merged tribal districts, and that projects worth billions of rupees would be completed on the back of this initiative — ushering in a ‘new era of development’. The new rules are also expected to help in settling land disputes in the newly merged districts.
