Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday (January 20) disclosed that the provincial government has approved land acquisition with some conditions for two mega projects – Leh Expressway and Flood Channel and Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR), according to news sources.

According to an RDA senior official (whose name was not disclosed), the government approved the land acquisition on the condition that the Leh Expressway project will not be executed before the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) was conducted.
Moreover, No Objection Certificates (NOCs) will be obtained before the implementation of the project. It was mentioned that the projects will be funded by the Punjab government and the total cost has been approved without the Foreign Exchange Component (FEC).

Reportedly, PTI leader Sheikh Rashid Shafique, while talking to the media, stated that the basic hurdles in the execution of both the mega projects have been removed and construction is expected to start soon. Earlier, the provincial government ordered RDA to start work on both the projects.
