Gujranwala: The authorities concerned have initiated the land acquisition procedure for linking Gujranwala with the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, a news source reported. Gujranwala Commissioner Waqas Ali Mehmood expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with several representatives of the Gujrat Chambers of Commerce and Industries.

He said that industrial growth was vital for the country’s economic prosperity; adding that industrial cities including Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Sialkot held utmost importance on this front. He stated that several important measures would be introduced for setting up the proposed industrial estate in Gujrat.

To facilitate the construction of the new link road between Gujranwala and the said motorway, he invited suggestions from the traders. He also mentioned that the Punjab government was aware of the delays being witnessed in completion of Shahbazpur Road, as well as its bridge. He informed the attendees that he would soon pay a visit to the site.
