Gujrat: The Land Revenue Department (LRD) has initiated the procedure for land acquisition for the construction of six-kilometer-long industrial link road as well as of a flyover on railway track near Service Mor along the old GT road, according to a news source. Gujrat Assistant Commissioner Salman Zafar Dhothar has been tasked with land acquisition process for infrastructure in Gujrat.

A total of PKR 154 million has been allocated for the acquisition of the required land, out of which the government has released around PKR 100 million. As accordance with the proposed plan, the flyover will start from Swedish College and along the old GT road. The flyover will then cross over the railway tracks and will come to an end near the GT Road bypass, from where the industrial link road will be constructed.

Senior administrative officer, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi proposed the aforementioned projects to expand the limits of the city, as well reduce the pressure of traffic near Saen Raja shrine along old GT road, which is the main entry and exit route of the city.
As per the official estimates, a sum of PKR 717 million will be spent on the flyover, whereas PKR 1 billion will be allocated for the construction of the industrial link road.
