Rawalpindi: The authority concerned has notified an increase from the existing 2,000 acress to 10,000 acres in the land area for the industrial zone planned along the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) route; with the issuance of a Section 4 notification for commencing with the land acquisition process expected soon, according to a new story published on November 2.
Preparations are already underway for the groundbreaking of the ‘game changer’ RRR project, and the event is scheduled for the last week of December. Commenting on the occasion, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza revealed that all hurdles impeding the development of the Rawalpindi Ring Road had been removed.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar will perform the groundbreaking. According to reports, preparation to organise a grand ceremony for the purpose are underway.
The news source also revealed that an approval has been issued to develop the industrial zone, theme park, health zone, education zone, and fruits and vegetable market with the collaboration of the Islamabad and Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industries. Further, successful negotiations were held with the National University of Medical Science for the development of an education city.

The Punjab government has already released PKR 6 billion for the land acquisition for the circular road project. It is expected that the RDA will receive workable proposals for the establishment of a European- standard theme park along the RRR route.
