Lahore: The government has initiated the land acquisition process for the 17km-long stretch of the Lahore Ring Road’s Southern Loop-IV (SL-4), a news source reported. The loop will connect the Multan Road with the Lahore-Karachi motorway and Sharaqpur, crossing the River Ravi.

SL-4 starts from Maraka (Multan Road) where SL-3 ends. From there it will cross the Ravi and connect the Lahore-Karachi motorway and Sharaqpur. This will reduce the travel town between Multan Road and Sharaqpur from one and a half hour to maximum 15 minutes, according to an official of the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA).

The government will acquire as many as 4,000 kanals for the SL-IV. The government is trying to complete this process within the shortest possible time as per the official. The planning & development department has been asked to ensure provision of PKR 5 billion for the acquisition.

SL-4 will be constructed at a cost of PKR 20 billion and will be constructed under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode and on the build, operate and transfer (BoT) basis.
