As for the Chahar Dam project’s funding, the Punjab government has allocated PKR 650 million for land acquisition, with the rest being provided by ADB. The development work on the Chahar Dam project is expected to start by the end of this year and the finance department has been directed to start the process of land acquisition soon.
Reportedly, the design of the dam was modified to offer a full-pressure water supply to identified areas and curb water stealing. The revised project plan includes the construction of a water loop to offer round-the-clock water to the locale of Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.
